RouterBot

RouterBot is a local routing proxy that exposes one OpenAI-compatible endpoint to Cursor. Status: Live / Released (MIT, v0.1.0). It classifies each request, routes to the configured provider, and walks a fallback chain on failure. Supports cloud CLIs, HTTP APIs, and local models without swapping Cursor configs.

Live / Released AI Infrastructure OpenAI-compatible router for multi-backend Cursor workflows
RouterBot

Context

Cursor binds one custom OpenAI base URL at a time; switching between Claude, Codex, Gemini, and local models means manual config changes, fragile tunnels, and no unified fallback when a backend errors.

Approach

RouterBot exposes a single OpenAI-compatible `/v1` surface with keyword task routing, ordered fallback, a web dashboard for providers and models, and Tailscale Serve/Funnel guidance for cloud Agent mode.

Features
Web dashboard—providers, models, routing, activity log
Task routing (code, debug, plan, …) to different backends
Configurable fallback chain on provider failure
Built-in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor Agent, Gemini CLI adapters
Custom OpenAI-compatible HTTP (Ollama, vLLM, LM Studio)
Generic stdin CLI adapter for bring-your-own tools
OAuth/device-login URLs opened on your workstation
systemd units and Tailscale setup scripts
Capabilities
  • OpenAI-compatible API gateway
  • Multi-provider CLI and HTTP adapter patterns
  • Task classification and fallback-chain routing
  • Operator dashboard and activity logging
  • Remote-access deployment (Tailscale, systemd)
  • API key and config handling
Technologies

Notes
  • Daily routing layer for multi-model agent workflows.
  • Fallback chains handle provider failures without manual intervention.
  • Adapter pattern covers major agent CLIs and OpenAI-compatible HTTP backends.
